8 - Attendance

Being "present" in a PVOnline course means that you are actively engaged and submitting assignments each week.

If you are not submitting work, you are considered absent. If there are special circumstances which affect your ability to work, it is your responsibility to notify your teacher.

On Campus Students:
Since you take your PVOnline course(s) on a PVSchools campus, you do not have to record your attendance.

You can work on coursework outside the lab-- at home, or after the school day-- but you do not need to record time spent on coursework.

The Academic Technician who supervises you in the lab at school records your attendance and monitors your progress.

Off-Campus Students:
As a PVOnline student who does not take your course(s) on a PVUSD campus, you are responsible for recording your own attendance for every day that you work.
  • The State of Arizona requires that you spend and record at least 112.5 hours for each one semester class.
    • If you are in your course, for a full semester (18 weeks), that means a minimum of 6 1/2 hours per week.
    • If you are in the course for less than 18 weeks, you still have to log the same amount of time, so the number of hours per week will need to increase.
  • Record time for any activity related to your course, whether it is on the computer or not, including studying, reading, homework, projects, research, writing, field trips, and tests.
  • High School students cannot take the final exam until the required minimum amount of time is logged. Your teacher will confirm there is a record of these hours before giving approval for you to take the final exam.
